The solar module converts a portion of the sun’s energy into DC electricity and this electricity or specifically the current travels to the battery via a conductor, usually copper wire.

The battery stores the current as amperage, similar to a water tank storing water. A battery is also designed to produce voltage which, when combined with amperage, gives power. The battery power may be used at any time to operate devices connected to the battery. When a battery is receiving and storing current from the solar module, the battery is referred to as being charged or charging.
